Middle School Pilots Millionaire's Club

The Millionaire’s Club financial education experience reached another milestone recently with the launch of a pilot program at Benjamin Tasker Middle School in Prince George's County.  The financial literacy program is currently offered at over 30 local high schools and the University of Maryland, College Park.

“When we were first approached by Benjamin Tasker Middle School to start a Millionaire’s Club for their students, I wasn't sure if the curriculum was too rigorous for middle school-aged students,” recalled Kyle Swisher, Executive Director of the Credit Union Foundation MD|DC, creators of the program.

As part of the due diligence process, the Credit Union Foundation MD|DC spoke to educators  at Benjamin Tasker Middle School and the local high schools to determine if the students at the middle school were up for the challenge.  Through these conversations, the curriculum was modified slightly to design a middle school Millionaire's Club.  The Credit Union Foundation also reached out to Educational Systems Federal Credit Union, a long-time partner, who enthusiastically sponsored the pilot program.

"For us, it’s an honor to support education," said Chris Conway, President/CEO of Educational Systems FCU. “The Millionaire’s Club teaches students how to manage their personal finances which is a valuable skill that can be used throughout life. We are proud to sponsor nine high school programs and now the pilot program at Benjamin Tasker Middle School.”
